Med-Secure Device is a secure locked container for the remote management of pharmaceuticals. It is idea for operating rooms, emergency rooms, transporting and any other remote medication dispensing and storage situation. The convenient point of care size allows attachment to carts, counter tops and inside cabinets with an outside dimension of 16"x 12"x 12". The Med-Secure Device is easily attached using a high performance adhesive tape or bolts. The keyless digital locks with a LCD read out key pad simplifies opening without locating keys. The Med-Secure Device facilitates meeting regulatory requirements for medication storage in remote location without the need for expensive drug dispensing equipment.

NOTE: Med-Security Container is an effective, economical solution for JCAHO compliance regarding issues of medication safety. The Joint Commission on Accreditation of Healthcare Organizations Medication Management Standard 2.20 requires that "medications are properly and safely stored throughout the hospital." The Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services Condition of Participation for Pharmaceutical Services, Section 482.25 (b) (2) states, "Drugs and biologicals must be kept in a locked storage area...in a manner to prevent access by non-authorized individuals."

Operating Instructions

Simple operation user enters a digital security code on the LCD readout on key pad and the press the # key that activates the door to open. Record and remove pharmaceuticals by simply closing the door and press * key the Med-Secure device with activate the locking mechanism. The device operates off of 4 AA batteries that are included. The LCD screen has a low battery indicator light when it is time to replace batteries. Manual override keys (4) are provided to back up the system. All steel construction with a durable powder coat finish offers a durable system.

Mounting Med-Secure Device

The Med-Secure device convenient size (16"x12"x12") allows for mounting on carts, in cabinets or on the top of a work surface. A high performance adhesive tape is provided for attachment. The adhesive tape has excellent long-term holding power and is a permanent fastener with a shearing strength of 80 lbs/in². The unit also has 4 holes on the back and bottom for attachment using bolts.

Low Battery Indicator

The low battery indicator is located on the left side of the key pad display. Under normal battery strength the battery signal will appear. When the battery becomes low, the battery signal will flash and the batteries should be replaced.

Emergency Key Backup

If you forget your PIN CODE or the batteries become too weak to operate the locking mechanism, you must use the KEY BACKUP/OVERRIDE to open and/or close the Med-Secure container. The container is equipped with an override lock on the left side of the front panel, under the square plastic cover. To access the lock, pry the override lock cover off. DO NOT KEEP THE KEYS IN THE CONTAINER and DO NOT THROW THE OVERRIDE LOCK COVER AWAY.

Unauthorized Access Prevention

If an incorrect pin code is entered, an ERROR message will appear on the display. If an incorrect pin code is entered 3 times, the Med-Secure container will shut down for 20 seconds but can be opened by the key override during this time. If a wrong pin code is entered 9 times, the system will shut down for 5 minutes but the override key can be used. Once the 5 minutes has passed, the container may be opened as usual.
